WHAT DOES IT MEAN

To Transcend?

Transcendence literally means “existence or experience beyond the normal or physical level”. Its Latin root is “transascendere”, to climb over or beyond. To transcend is to experience a new level of awareness, of Being.

Most leadership programs teach skills and postures. At best, they lead to transformation, which literally means “a complete or major change in someone’s or something’s appearance, form, etc.” Often, transformation is an outward change, a different way of doing things.

Transcendence is more than transformation. It’s about “Being” a leader rather than “Doing” leadership.

It has emerged as a process that empowers leaders to attain a new level of awareness and achievement. Transcendent leaders view organizations as opportunities to offer meaning instead of only being vehicles for money, power, self-promotion, or romantic ideals. They offer solutions for organizations to work for the highest good for all.
